Reliable temperature control is essential across modern industry. From high-temperature process heating to low-temperature cooling and refrigeration, the correct fluid helps maintain product quality, protect equipment and keep production running efficiently.

Rock Oil’s new INDUS-THERM™ brochure brings together its heat transfer fluids, glycol-based products, system cleaner and refrigeration compressor lubricants in one practical guide. Developed for engineering, maintenance and procurement teams, it provides a clear overview of the range and the factors that influence product selection.

A Range for Demanding Thermal Applications

The brochure is organised around three core product areas:

  • Mineral and synthetic heat transfer fluids – including INDUS-FOODSAFE™ HTF and INDUS-THERM™ M, LT and PAO, covering food-grade processing, high-temperature service, low-temperature start-up and systems requiring both heating and cooling.
  • Glycol-based heat transfer fluids – GLYSOFOR N and GLYSOFOR L provide heat transfer, frost protection and corrosion control in water-based systems. Different concentrations allow protection to be matched to system requirements, with lower-toxicity MPG-based options for sensitive applications.
  • Refrigeration compressor lubricants – the INDUS-THERM™ RL range includes mineral, PAO and POE formulations for defined refrigerant and compressor applications, including ammonia, carbon dioxide, R22, HFC and selected other refrigerants.

Product summaries, selection tables, application guidance and product codes help customers navigate the range, with current technical data sheets providing further information for individual products.

Planned Maintenance with INDUS-THERM™ CLEAN

A key focus of the brochure is INDUS-THERM™ CLEAN, an in-service cleaning additive for mineral-oil heat transfer systems affected by sludge deposits and restricted circulation.

By suspending and dissolving sludge while the system remains in normal operation, CLEAN helps restore circulation and heat transfer efficiency without a separate flushing-fluid stage. This allows the final shutdown, drain and refill to be planned around production schedules, helping reduce the disruption and cost associated with unexpected maintenance.

Rock Oil’s fluid analysis service can help assess system condition and determine a suitable treatment rate. The cleaner relies on circulation to reach deposits, so areas with no flow may require mechanical cleaning or pipe replacement.

Clear Guidance for Fluid Selection

Temperature capability is only one part of choosing a heat transfer fluid. Start-up conditions, continuous operating temperatures, heater design, flow requirements, construction materials and existing fluid chemistry all influence suitability.

The brochure distinguishes between minimum start-up, minimum operating and maximum bulk temperatures, helping customers understand the operating conditions behind each recommendation. It also covers considerations such as incidental food contact, glycol concentration and compatibility when changing fluids.

For refrigeration systems, the guide explains the relationship between refrigerant chemistry and compressor lubrication. Compatibility tables and viscosity guidance provide a useful starting point, with final selection following the compressor manufacturer’s approved lubricant specification.

Backed by the Rock Oil Industrial Division

From food processing and pharmaceutical production to plastics manufacturing, cold storage, HVAC and renewable energy systems, each application presents its own thermal and maintenance demands.

The Rock Oil Industrial Division provides product selection support, compatibility guidance and fluid analysis to help customers assess fluid condition and plan maintenance. This support helps operators address degradation, contamination and system cleanliness while making informed decisions about continued service or replacement.
