Woodfibres treated to be fire retardant (to British Standards)

It is dyed green to allow it to be differentiated from (flammable) sawdust

Superior to ordinary clay granules as it is and absorbent (i.e. it totally saturates itself with liquid, like a sponge) whereas clay is an adsorbent, which only allows the surface to become wetted

It is for this reason that SAFFIRE absorbs over twice as much oil as a similar quantity of clay

Saves on bulky adsorbent that requires disposal

Greatly reduces clean-up times

Such a low density that a 30 litre bag weighs only 8 kg, and so can easily be picked up with one hand

Virtually dust-free, hence expensive machine parts are not threatened by its use in their vicinity

Non-abrasive, hence, it does not scratch painted floors

Does not break down to a powder, like clay, and therefore does not turn muddy.SAFFIRE soaked with oily spills can either be landfilled, or incinerated, thus saving on increasing landfill charges
